Let the Ideas Flow

Well as you see I was currently unemployed for the first time and longest time in 5-6 years!! I don't know if you caught that but I did say WAS! I just got a call from Stonewood Grill and Tavern and I start on Saturday!! So last night Britton and I went on a celebration dinner date to P.F. Changs (We had a gift card from Enterprise!!) and it was delicious! Well anyway, as usual when we are at a restaurant we usually look around and talk about "our" restaurant. Which is or ultimate dream to open our own! Now of course we have different ideas, but mostly they all match up (or I win!) And last night reminded me of how often I forget things, especially great ideas (wierd I know), so I had an idea for an idea board. Yes I know I didnt invent the idea board, but this feels perfect for our home! I have this stack of white cardstock, and I thought what better then just small cards to keep our ideas flowing and motivated.  My biggest revelation last night, was that our restaurant will succeed, even with the average of 80% of new restaurants failing, would be the research and lack of total risk that we have.  I have worked in 10 different restaurats for 8 different companies and have seen the ins and outs, and that definitely gives us the advantage! Maybe this idea board will help others throw their ideas around and pursue the millions of things out there that we can all accomplish!

I started with cork tile that I found at Walmart for $4 with all the mounting tools included.

8.5" x 11" White cardstock cut into 20  2x2 in squares (I probably could've done 2.2x2.1 in rectangles to save on waste but I do love squares)
Then I let the ideas flow, I keep the pile on my desk right next to the board so Britton can contribute as well

There are more cards right now but I couldn't let all of our ideas out! But so far doesn't it sound like a place you want to visit??

Spreading the Love

I like Valentines day, it's fun and red IS my favorite color! The biggest part I do miss about Valentines day was when you were young and got to swap valentines cards and treats at school.  It couldn't be a better time, and you got to tell your crush of the 2nd grade how much you liked him without actually telling him!
So who doesn't love getting a little treat for Valentines Day right? Especially from a blog stranger/friend!! I wanna bring everyone back to the 2nd grade with me this year.  Anyone who would like a homemade (classy i promise) Valentine in the mail just fill out this Form and I'll spread the love into your home!

P.S. Yes I did indulge in this idea from another blogger friend Erin B. Inspired so if you would like even more love visit her page!

P.P.S. that picture is from my beautiful and talented friend Tina of Giselle Evelyn Photography...check her out!!!

Hello Again!

Ok, Let's try this again!! So I started this blog, with hopes that I would be dedicated to it! And I have, but my computer has not.  I got a virus about three weeks ago (right when I started posting) and it kept me out of Google (Gmail and Blogger) and Facebook.  Which I found out was actually a good thing because it was a tracking virus, so as these programs were protecting me they were annoying the hell out of me!! (Thank God for iPhone and Britton's MacBook)
With all this I did continue to blog, well through my notes on my phone.  So within the next few days I think I will "back post" my past few weeks, because it has been quite the few weeks.
Anyone who follows me on Twitter knows a little bit about it, the main thing is that my job of 3 years has closed on me. Well, not just me...all of Jacksonville!! I worked at Times Grill Restaurant in Jacksonville, FL. I worked there from the 2nd day they were open to the very last hour. I was the last employee to walk out the door before they locked it and it felt right.  I put a lot into that restaurant, I worked any position they asked me, I worked holidays, nights, days, weekends, doubles, I was also the marketing manager (apparently I did not do the best job haha), but I did my best. Many employees were very angry at them for how it all went about, and it just showed a lot of immaturity on there part.  As they went around bashing the management instead of just embracing the next step.  I am sorry for all of my fellow co-workers who lost their jobs and were not offered positions to return, but that is the restaurant business ESPECIALLY in Florida (No-Fault State) you are in a dispensable profession.
On a lighter note, I was offered to return with a position as Bartender and Trainer. It is a different company so we will see if I accept after I learn more about them.  As of now I am on the job hunt, though it doesn't feel like I don't have a job just yet, more like a very long vacation! And job interviews have been very slim in the past three years. I used to nail them, so we'll see this week. Craigslist and Monster are getting a lot of traffic from me, so hopefully that helps and I'll just have to "hit the cement" (as I confusingly said it to Britton the other day) and just keep those fingers crossed!

PS Shameless beg, but if anyone out there who does possibly read my blog that knows of any openings in the Jacksonville Area, I am a bartender, server, and almost done with my AA in Business!! Hell I should just throw my resume on here! haha!!

10 on Tues

Questions thought up by Erin B. Inspired
1. What type of home do you currently reside in? (house, apartment, etc.)
Apartment in a Quadplex
2. If you could completely redecorate one room in your home, what room would you pick, why, and what would you do to it?
It's hard to choose, since right now NO part of our home is done.  I'd love to start with the living room (And this question actually sets it up for my soon future post of finding help to redecorate) But it would definitely be the living room since we spend the most of our time here, and I want it to be more then just a couch and a TV, I want it to feel homey and cozy.
3. What is your favorite place to gain inspiration for your home decor style?
Most recent Young House Love and my good friend Samantha shows me its possible to actually get stuff done.
4. What is your favorite piece of decor in your home?
I'd have to say the picture frame with me, B, and Husky in it that says "Family"
5. What do you want visitors to feel when they visit your home? Do you think your home gives off that feeling?
Welcome and a "Riverside" feel. I definitely don't think we have that...YET.
6. Describe your home in one word and explain why you chose that word.
Quiet. Theres not a lot going on in it, when it comes to decor and people.  But it's a work in progress.
7. What are some predominant colors or patterns in your home?
Brown.
8. What is your favorite room in your home and why?
Living room. Because this is where we hang out and live our lives.
9. Do you take a hands-on or DIY approach to projects around your home or do you enlist or hire help?
Our house is all hands-on (mostly B's) but DIY projects are my new obsession after reading a lot of these blogs.  So hopefully there will be more of that.

10. Where is your favorite place to shop for home furnishings?
Antique stores and Target.

This was my First Questions blog (sorry I dont know if they actually have a name)
But it was fun! I don't think I have many readers yet but if you answer these questions let me know, I'd love to know more about others places!!

2011...Let the Decade Begin

Hello internet world!
This will be my first blog ever! So bare with me. I wanted to begin blogging to help get words out there, and to help document my progress through this next year. So what better time to start then the first of the year (I was going to start yesterday, but something came up...such as watching the game with my boy). Anyway, This will work as well.  I've been looking at many blogs lately and just get caught up in them and I love that. I'd love to think that others are getting caught up in mine. As well as getting advise through here. A lot has been changing in mine and my boyfriends life, and this is a great way to see how it is going and share it with everyone.
You'll be able to read a little about us, our puppy, our home, and our lives in our profile; and will learn much more about us as the year goes on.
I look forward to sharing and getting to know others out there. I think blogging will be a great outlet and I can't wait to be a part of it all!!

Happy New Year Everyone!!!
